Special Assistant for Strategic Planning (Code SASP)
Mission
The Office of the Special Assistant for Strategic Planning (SASP) was established within the Office of the Judge Advocate General (OJAG) to provide policy, guidance, and direction for all JAG Corps transformation and strategic planning efforts.
In October 2005, the Judge Advocate General tasked the JAG Corps Special Assistant for Strategic Planning to develop a long-range strategic vision for the Corps as well as an execution plan for achieving this vision. The result is JAG Corps 2020.
Function
The SASP is the principle advisor to the Judge Advocate General and the Deputy Judge Advocate General on strategic planning. In this capacity, the SASP team:
- Oversees and guides all strategic thinking and planning and is responsible for the development, modification, and updating of the JAG Corps Strategic Plan.
- Monitors, manages, and assesses Strategic Plan implementation, including review and updates as needed.
- Integrates policy creation, training and communication to quickly and efficiently deliver new policy, plans, and practices to the JAG Corps community.
- Serves as the primary OJAG focal point for joint transformation efforts with our service partners and the various Offices of General Counsel within Department of Defense (DoD).
- Ensures the JAG Corps vision continues to meet the legal needs of the naval and joint forces of the future.
