Currently, there are branch offices located at Naval Station Pearl Harbor, Naval Station Guam and Commander, Fleet Activities, Sasebo.
Each branch office provides legal services to their respective locations. You will find all branch office contact information below.
Walk-in Procedure
You must present a valid military identification card to confirm your entitlement to our services. Reservists on active duty and family members serving 30 days or more are eligible for services; and certain Department of Defense (DoD) civilian overseas hires and DoD civilians serving in harms-way are also eligible. You will need to complete a client intake sheet, describe your issue and list other parties involved in the case. Your issue will not be discussed in the waiting room; however, if you are unable to complete your intake sheet or unsure of what type of consultation you need, you will be taken into a private room to discuss your situation with our paralegal.
Attorney-Client Relationship with Walk-in Clients
After the initial consultation with an attorney, the attorney-client relationship is ongoing while the attorney is assisting / advising the client on the same issue or same case. Follow-up appointments on the same issue will be assigned to the same attorney during the initial consultation, unless the attorney has transferred from the command or if the client requests another attorney. If the responsibility for an ongoing case is transferred to another attorney, the client must be notified. Once the issue or case is complete, the case file is closed.
Telephone Policy
Initial attorney consultation is done in person, unless the individual is physically incapable of coming to the legal assistance office or if the individual is located in a geographic area outside of normal commuting distance. However, verification of the individual’s eligibility is generally verified through the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) by consulting with PSD or through verification by a remote SJA / Unit Legal Officer.
Pre-existing clients are eligible for consultation by phone and referred directly to the appropriate attorney.
