The Navy JAG Corps offers summer internships and school year externships to law school students wishing to gain experience for credit. Due to funding constraints, only unpaid opportunities are currently available. As a Navy JAG Corps volunteer, you'll be assigned to a legal command/staff and gain experience in traditional Navy JAG Corps practice areas such as military justice (criminal prosecution and defense) and legal assistance (providing general legal advice to Sailors and their families).
If you have any questions concerning the internship or externship programs, please send an email to Code61\\at\\navy.mil.
When submitting your internship or externship application, please keep your e-mail size smaller than 7MB; you may send multiple e-mails if necessary. After submitting your application, you will receive a confirmation e-mail within five business days. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail please call (202) 685-8527 to confirm that your application has been received.

| How it Works |
| |
Interns work on a wide variety of legal issues depending upon where the internship is conducted. All internships are normally a minimum of eight weeks.
During the application phase, candidates request three Navy JAG Corps office locations where they would like to work. The applicant is responsible for making all travel and living arrangements. The Navy will not provide funding for travel, lodging, or per diem of any kind.
